Why all this fuss? Why don't the "powers that be" eliminate this archaic
carryover from the distant past? I don't understand why this rule still
exists. Don't give us a history lesson, just get rid of this outmoded,
artifact of days gone by... Walt - K2WK

Lets put it to a vote.

A previous post regarding the "PIN Diode Designer's Handbook and Catalog"
showed the wrong telephone number for Microsemi. You can reach Bill Dougherty
at 617-926-0404, extension 3138. Disregard the 508 number. The woman who
answers at that number is going crazy with the phone calls for Bill. 8^)

I have not read the article (yet, my issue is lost in the mail, I guess) so I
cannot comment on the article.

What I can comment on is the use of the AG6K mods. I have designed the
amplifiers that are currently in use at the contest station of KS9K. They are
six homebrew monoband amplifiers (SINGLE 8877), and we installed the mods. We
have not had any problems with parasitics or anything else. They work GREAT.
The six homebrew monoband amps that were replaced by the present day amps are
still in use by K3LR among others. To my understanding, these amps also used
the AG6K mods, and still are pumping out the watts.

I hope this settles the shock of the QST 'misprint'.
