The spectrum from 50.1 to 50.125 is a DX window. Although
a few misfits aren't cooperating, generally the window is working
very well. Sometimes its top 5 KHz gets smooshed in, but usually
the entire 25 KHz is clear of W/VE traffic. During contests,
50.125 - .130 is the War Zone. During big band openings, contest
activity may extend up to 50.250 (I have heard wall-to-wall up to
50.325 on one occasion). With the window clear of W/VE, you really
_can_ work DX, even during a contest.
My recommendation is to leave 50.1 to 50.125 open for DX QSOs.
Personally, I won't work any W/VE stations within the DX window,
and I think that the "rate-of-return" for contesters who do
operate there is limited.
