I am submitting the following rule wording to the CAC for consideration.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(X) Single Operator Limited Assisted--One person performs all
operating,
monitoring and logging functions. Scoring for this category will consist of
the
results of the first 24 hours of operation by the station in the contest. A
mandatory time-out period of a least 4 contiguous hours must be taken
commencing sometime after 8 hours of operation but before 20 hours of
operation. Other time-out periods of at least 30 minutes duration may be taken
at
the operators discretion, but must be preceded by at least 2 hours of
continuous
operating time. The scorable 24 hours will commence with the first contact
made
in the contest period and ends 24 "operation hours" later. (No operating time
in
this period may be deleted or omitted from the log.) Stations are permitted to
continue to operate beyond this point and the remainder of the log will be
treated
as a check log. Logs must clearly indicate time off periods and the
termination of
the first 24 hours of operation. No contacts or multipliers after the first 24
operating hours may be used for scoring purposes. The use of spotting nets and
assistance through other alerting systems not physically located at the station
(operating arrangements involving assistance through DX-alerting nets, etc) are
allowed. There are no restrictions on the number of band changes or the length
of time spent on a band.
Entrants in this category will be eligible for an award or certificate (as in
paragraphs 10(B) and 10(D)).
---------------------------------------------------------
These rules are intended to encourage current casual participants to compete
for
an award, but to discourage "picking the best 24 hours" out of a 48 hour
effort.
Starting time is not specified, and off time is somewhat flexible, but requires
a
minimum of at least 8 hours continuous operating at the beginning of operation
and minimum blocks of 2 hours thereafter.
