In regards to a 24 hour period of operation within the present 48...
It is true the east coast will still dominate! So if you are looking
for an easier way to win a plaque, keep looking!
If you are looking for a way no to take off Friday, maintain your marriage,
or whatever else you currently sacrifice doing 48 hours than more power
to you.
What it should be however: Is a 24 hour contiguous period. If you allow
operators to pick their operating period, they will pick whatever times
allow them to run the highest rate. This means, even less people will
work the low bands during the slow times of 0800-1100Z. This puts the
DX stations that do single band 80 or 160 at less of an advantage to work
more people than they do now. THE IDEA IS MORE ACTIVITY, NOT LESS. The
time periods could be 0000 to 0000 or 6am to 6pm local or something along
those lines.
In order to make it look attractive to Billy Lunt, I would suggest this
category not be sub-categorized...
Example: No S/O 24 hour - Single Band 40 - Assisted
If you do 24 hour, you do it all band and pick your power. This adds
only 3 categories to the present system.
