One area of great interest, for both beginning and experienced
contesters, is the suitability of older (and less expensive) radios for
contesting. The Contesting Compendium has a special section devoted to
older radios
<http://wiki.contesting.com/index.php/Category:Older_radios> which has
pretty decent information on Kenwood radios, but nothing on Yaesu radios
except a very brief piece on the FT-1000MP, which could use augmenting.
I'm sure there are others who swear by a variety of older Yaesu radios,
beginning with the FT-1000D, but including much more modest units as well.
So if you'd like to recommend your favorite Yaesu radio, why not follow
the link above? Look over the entries that are already there, to get an
idea of how they are formatted. You can look at the simple source code
for an article without being registered, but if you want to contribute
one of your own, you'll need to create an account (link at upper right
of every page). Please use your callsign as your user name. Then log
in and you'll automatically have editing privileges, so you can add or
edit to your heart's content.
