Hi,
I just got a contest keyer interface for use with my FT-920 and I find that
there may be a problem with the 5-pin DIN Data port on the rig. TX audio
does not pass through it. I can re-route the audio to the Patch input but I
get an impedance mismatch with my Heil HC-4 or HC-5 headset and there is a
distinct noise on the audio when using the voice keyer. It also causes a
great deal of RFI internally to the rig as I can hear the muffled audio
track in the headset with the Monitor turned off. With the input set up to
go through the DIN plug, I find that if I turn the volumes up to maximum, I
can faintly hear the voice keyer audio but it doesn't register on the output
meter of the rig.
I tried hooking up a TNC to the port before and got the same result of no TX
audio output but the other pins worked fine. I can receive digital signals
with the new interface and it keys the rig as well as sends CW. Just no TX
audio.
Has anyone had any trouble with this port or has anyone got it working? I'd
like to know both sides.
I am using a RigExpert Standard interface and the TNC was a PK-232. I
double-checked the wiring of both.
Thanks,
