Many of the older radios with internal antenna tuners
(TS440, FT890, FT900) had great internal tuners that
would match almost any coax fed antennas. Most of the
current models have internal tuners that are pretty
poor by comparison, as they won't do much if your SWR
is over 3:1. So, with 10 plus years of progress, we
get internal tuners that are worse than before.
Anyone have an idea as to what is going on here?
