FYI -

I don't have experience with a DX doubler. I use a Griffin iMic 
connected to a Mac USB port. I completely eliminated hum by using mini 
telephone modem 600-600 ohm transformers for DC isolation in both of 
the stereo audio out lines and the Mic input line to an FT1000D. 
Additionally, there has been no problem with signal levels.
