[Yaesu] FT-990 question

Dear friends!

I know from the manual of the FT-990 that the volume of
the beeper for buttons can be changed by a potentiometer,
but I have no ''beep'' at all on mine, is there a way to turn if 
on or off? Can't find anything about this in the manual.

Or is there something wrong - that can be fixed?
