I am the lucky owner of a Yaesu FT-920, I bought the radio from RF
Connection in DK, 11-04-2000, and so far I has been very satisfied with the
radio, actually I like it very much, but then for about a month ago it quit
working ? ! first thing I notice was that there was no audio, but as I look
at the display things look OK, but never mind what I try, looking over the
buttons to see if I did some wrong settings, but no, I try to reset the
radio as descript in the manual but that did not help still there was no
audio !!!.
Then it was send repair at RF connection, it was back in the shack a few
days later, very fine service and it did work for ?! at least one hour ?!
Now again I have a Yaesu FT-920 with no audio.
I would like to know if there are other owner of a Yaesu FT-920 that has had
the same problem ?, this is what happened, the second time the audio vanish
I was in front of the radio and ready to go on air! Then the audio vanish
and the DSP button flashed slowly a few times (the DSP was off) then it
stop, but if I push the button it lit up as usual, the display was looking
normal and respond to buttons as usual, but if I try to transmit noting
happened, only if I try to activate the antenna tuner or the menu U-52 the
transmitter did operate with RF out, as long as it should but when the RF
out put stop the transmit sign in the display was still on, and I have to
turn off the radio to make it disappear.
>From RF connection I?m told that some part of the radio belief that it is
transmitting and some part that it is listening and that this problem can be
solved bye a new e-prom, are there anybody else with a Yaesu FT-920 and a
similar problem, I will be very interested to hear about it, special about
how it was solved.
I?m told that a new E-PROM should help ? and that Yaesu need four to six
week for delivery !!!!!!.
