Please leave the radio alone...when you attempt or succeed at pushing
the finals to power outputs
beyond the design specifications you also nullify the spectral purity of
the radio, yes someone might here the difference between 800watts and
1400watts out of the 4-1000 but they'll notice it because your signal
will be splatting across the band.
If you want more power from the 4-1000A run it in class AB2. You'll
have a loud clean signal that way and much fewer complaints from other
adjacent freq. users. There are several local guys in my town that have
pushed up the power of their Yaesu rigs (like CBers trying to get an
extra watt output) and the splatter all over the bands where they
operator.
You've got a great radio and a super linear amp tube...why undue such a
good start on a great station???
HAVE FUN,

p.s. very few people can tell the difference between 1000watts and 2000
watts. With todays AGC
circuits most folks won't hear it or see it on the meter...if
you can't increase the power by a
factor of 10 you really are not getting much of an improvement.
For sure the contesters and
DXers will not here the difference...If you want to stand out on
the bands -- run a clean signal!
There aren't many strong signals that are clean, without fan
noise, background noise, popping
mike elements, scratcy audio, over processed, excessive bass
response, etc. etc.
