Dave,
Due to the age difference of the rigs, it is possible that they have
different tuners. This can be checked by looking at the 3rd and 4th serial
number digits. A rig with xx04xxxx or higher has the newer tuner, that will
retune as needed on TX. FT-1000's with xx03xxxx or lower have the old
tuner, which will not retune in TX. The tuners were changed about 1990.
