Hi Bill,
I don't have the 59Y, but I do have a 599ZX which, I believe, has
essentially the same filter capabilities. In a nutshell, I think you
can't go wrong. I've had my 599ZX for a couple of years now and I've got
to say that without a doubt it is the most used accessory in my shack.
And this is even though I have an FT1000MP with its own internal DSP.
Go for either the 59Y or the 599ZX!
