I am considering a backup rig to my good ol' FT-990 AC. A question
about the FT-840.
The Yaesu ads for this radio says it has a digital mode interface. I
do not remember seeing a dedicated connector on the back of the radio
when I briefly looked at it at HRO. Did I miss it.. or is the
interface actually the mic connector which I would consider a bit of
a hassle.
If there are any other rigs that could be suggested? I would
appreciate hearing about them.
1. I would prefer Yaesu.
2. I would prefer the presence of a dedicated digital connector.
3. I do want it to be a DC powered radio. My 990 is the older AC model
so I want an emergency rig that I could get into service when the
"big one" strikes.
Thanks in advance for any responses.
