No, it doesn't work everytime.

Back when I first subscribed to this list, I was using Compuserve for my
email. The Internet email address for a Compuserve subscriber using their
old numeric Compuserve ID consisted of the numeric ID appended with
"compuserve.com".

Since then, Compuserve changed their system to allow user-determined
alphanumeric IDs. They also set up a POP mail system so that users didn't
have to depend on Compuserve's proprietary mail system. However, mail
addressed to the old numeric ID is still routed to the user's POP mail
account. Once you convert a Compuserve account to POP mail, it's very
difficult to go back. Especially if you've deleted every vestige of
Compuserve's buggy user software as I have.

So, you see, the email address Majordomo@contesting.com has for me is an
address from which I can no longer send mail. The Yaesu list is set up so
that you can only unsubscribe from the address that you originally used to
subscribe to the list. Consequently, when I try to unsubscribe from this
list using the stated procedures, I get the following output. I've tried
this several times over the past six months and have _never_ gotten a
response from the list owner as Majordomo states.

I'm afraid that my only recourse is to cancel my Compuserve account.
Luckily, I was planning to do this anyway sometime around the end of this
month. Maybe when the list owner starts getting mail bouncing back from my
soon-to-be-non-existant Compuserve account, I will finally be unsubscribed.

Your request to Majordomo@contesting.com:

        unsubscribe yaesu 73667.324@CompuServe.COM

has been forwarded to the owner of the "yaesu" list for approval.
This could be for any of several reasons:

You might have asked to subscribe to a "closed" list, where all new
additions must be approved by the list owner.

You might have asked to subscribe or unsubscribe an address other than
the one that appears in the headers of your mail message.

When the list owner approves your request, you will be notified.
