I sent the following email to Yaesu, have not heard anything back. Wonder if
anyone from the list can answer these questions?
My FT-2400H transceiver has a strange problem. Whenever I set the squelch to
quiet the receiver it seems to latch so that no signals may be heard from
the speaker even though the S-meter does indicate one. I can turn the squlch
control fully counter clockwise and stil not get any audio. But, if I turn
the radio off with the squelch fully counter clockwise, then I get the audio
from the received signal.
This problem got worse over time where it does it all the time now. I did
try all of the different reset's to the radio with no change. I wonder if
you have seen this problem before and if there is anything I might try to
remedy it. If not, can you give me a guess as to what it would cost to get
it serviced? I may just turn it into a packet station as my TNC has the DCD
mod in it and does not need the squelch. However, I would like get it
functioning again.
One last question, I have an older FT-1000 that I would like to put the
pin-diode mods in. Do you have a price on the parts or do you recommend that
I send it in for this. I have been doing electronic repairs for over 20
years, so do feel good about doing it myself.
