I use the combination: FT1000MP and FL7000 and they work well together. =
Smooth QSK, and 500-600W out. It has a tuner built it and will switch =
bands automatically. (You may need an optional cable from Yaesu. It is =
identified in the 1000MP manual.) The secret to smooth operation is =
that two lines are used between the amp and the radio for key-the-amp =
(asserted by radio) and amp-ready (asserted by the amp) and tx ensues =
after these are set. I checked the wave-form using a sampler and an =
oscilloscope. There did not seem to be any appreciable shortening of =
the first dit. BTW, in normal operation, the amp-ready delay is not =
noticeable.

The amp includes a tuner with good range. It is very slow in initial =
tune up. However once it is set up, it keeps the antenna/band/tuner =
setting in memory and takes only a few seconds. The amp includes four =
buttons on the front panel for antenna choice. However, the antenna =
relay is an option (FS1-14 or some such part number). When this is used =
along with the amp, then a band change at the radio will qsy the amp and =
select the correct antenna.

The front panel of the FL7000 includes defeats for auto band change, =
tuner, low power setting for RTTY, and a standby button. The latter =
allows barefoot operation with automatic antenna selection.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Rajiv Dewan, N2RD

    I have a 1000MP and I'm considering purchase of a FL-7000 amp (don't =
have the deep pockets for the Quadra). Would appreciate any comments =
from anyone using this combination. Haven't seen much literature about =
this amp and I'm wondering how well does it interface with the MP, and =
does it have a built in tuner?
