There is a Yaesu Technical Bulletin on this problem. I dont know the
number, but I had it done on my older MP. It's a bit involved, but a good
technician should be able to install it properly. Sorry, I dont have the
number handy. I believe the tuner problem is caused by a spurious output
on 15 and possibly 17 meters.

Hi all,

yet another question regarding the Antenna Tuner in the FT 1000MP.

The Tuner works fine when CW and Digital Modes used but on SSB
a very particular problem is noted:

With the tuner engaged and properly tuned all the sudden the
tuner goes crazy indicating high SWR and trying to find another
match when running on SSB.

First I thought that it was some contact problem in the antenna
but all was checked and nothing at all.Switching the tuner off
produces steady SWR indication.

No there is no RF feedback, the SWR is well within the range of
the Tuner and works perfectly within the range when a steady
carrier is applied.

It seems to me ( I might be wrong)that due to the constantly
changing output on SSB the circuit goes crazy while trying
to compare SWR.

Does someone had similar observation or maybe a suggestion ?

Thanks in advance for any help.
