Hi Wendell, can answer the questions about the filters as I just
installed mine per the location and pictures in the manual.  They seem
to work fine.  Someone on the reflector had mentioned a full scale meter
blip on the main RX when selecting the 500hz filter.  I was able to
recreate this but also found it only happens with the AGC in the fact
position (or auto if the mode selected caused the AGC to be in fast).
So I don't think the filter position is the culprit but the glitch is
there.

On the SB 220 all you need do is use the relay control jack on the MP
and flip the switch as you mentioned.  I had to use my SB220 during the
ARRL CW test as my 87A needed a check up.  The 220 worked fine with the
MP.
