I am repairing a Yaesu FTDX-400. The problem is that the output of the
crystal controlled local oscillator drops as the band switch is changed from
80 m up through the range until there is virtually no output. On 80 meters
the rig is able to tune up with only about 125 watts output. I have
disconnected the output of the oscillator from the mixer and observed the
same behaviour with an oscilloscope on the oscillator plate with no other
load on the tube. The tube is new, and the plate tank circuit has been
peaked according to the manual as well as the trimmers ascossiated with each
crystal.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?
