Thanks to all who have commented on my previous post.
The Yaesu service guy says that "...all the FT990 ROM versions are the
same..." when it comes to CAT operation. Uh huh.
AA9AR, K8JP $ N8IT think that the version 1.20 ROM is a problem. AA9AR
has 1.30 in his with no control problems. K8JP says he had trouble with
whatever version his 990 had as an original load but now has no problems
after Yaesu updated it to 1.30.
N3SL didn't see a problem with his 990, but it may have already been
ROM'ed to V1.30 (he sold it...). HOWEVER, he mentioned the audio
blanking problem was related to a mute circuit and there was a "chop a
resistor" fix. Anyone else have experience with that ?
All in all, since the radio needs to go back for service ANYWAY (no side
tone) and to have several tech bulletin mods performed, I will have them
load V1.30 and ask about that mute circuit thing.
