Here's how I do it. I use both a standard USB cable to the 7300's USB port,
and an RT Systems USB-RTS01 cable (
https://www.rtsystemsinc.com/USB-RTS01-Programming-Cable_p_604.html) to the
7300's CI-V port. I use FSK on the 7300 (not AFSK). That allows you to have
the rig in RTTY mode which allows you to take advantage of the 7300's RTTY
features. If you use AFSK instead, you don't need the RT Systems cable.
Make sure that sound devices are set up to use CODECs (7300's built-in
sound card) for both mic and speakers on laptop.
Set Rig Port in WriteLog to CI-V port for rig control only, ex.: IC-7300
COM5 19200 No PTT. (Your COM port will vary.)
Set Port in Rttyrite and MMTTY to USB port on IC-7300 -- sends data and ptt
using fsk.
If you're using MMTTY with WriteLog, use one of the options as documented
here:
https://www.rttycontesting.com/tutorials/writelog/rttyrite-fsk-setup/fsk-mmtty-xmmt/.
(I use Option 3).
In RttyRite, under TU type menu, select: XMMT.ocx.

Hope that helps.
