Hi Dean,I am sorry, it looks that it was not clear, what I wanted to achieve. I
will explain:Let's imagine, that I am CY0RY, running rtty pileup, taking calls
up 1 - 5 kHz from my frequency. I have my own skimmer or SDR decoding all the
callers simultaneously and feeding the information to WL and WL is showing them
in the bandmap. I click on a callsign, my VFO-A tunes to the calling station (
this is my rx frequency now ). Naturally I don't want to change my TX frequency
at this time ( that would disappoint hundreds of calling hams who are listening
on my TX frequency ), only tune my RX to one particular calling station for a
short qso. After completing the qso I will click on the next call on the
bandmap and so on. All this time I want my TX frequency stay the same,
determined by VFO-B on the rig. However Writelog sending a command to my radio
(every time I clicked on the bandmap) , which is causing the radio get off from
SPLIT, so the radio will transmit on the caller's frequency unless I put it
back to SPLIT before I transmit. I know only one solution to this: to push the
split button on the radio ( which is pretty annoying to do 300 - 400 times per
hour ). I am looking for a software solution, that will keep the radio in
SPLIT, even if I am clicking on the bandmap to tune my RX. N1MM logger can do
this, but I have to use 4 keystrokes and both hands to go up 1 station in the
bandmap and send the exchange. Writelog requires only 2 keystrokes and allows
me to assign the keys with much more freedom. ( I usually avoid the F keys,
instead I assign unused keys like ][\;',. etc. ) It would be handy to put some
simple control like %S in the exchange message, that will set SPLIT before
transmitting.

haven't really used dxpedition mode at its optimim but I'm thinking it's
really for the dx side of the dxpedition in which case you set up your
split and you're tuning with the main dial (most likely) if say you're
listening 5-10KHz up. I don't think a dxpedition is likely to want to click
on a spot.
if you're working the dx I do agree that it might be an issue. However I do
not use writelog as my general logger. In my general logger it will
establish the split (as spotted) - the problem is not everyone spots with
the correct qsx - some pieces of software seem to add it as a note.
Even with writelog - I just confirmed that my 11.4B version does not
provide the split data (to my FT950) so I have to hit a couple buttons to
establish my TX frequency. In any event I would normally listen first to
establish where the dx is listening. The spot may say worked 7.5KHz up but
if the dx is listening 5-15 up it could be a looong time before he's
listening at 7.5 up again - so clicking and establishing the split as last
worked would be of little use if the objective is to work the dx quickly.
Bottomline - some basic operator skill and savvy is required no matter how
good the loggers are. Writelog does a great job of handling the logistics
of logging contest and dxpedition Q's. It sucks at most other things and
that's fine.
YMMV - just my view from 14 degrees north.
