A few months back I dumped McAfee anti virus from my machine and went with AVG.
Everything went pretty smooth except for one glitch. A while after installing
AVG they updated their virus definitions file and the new parameters suddenly
thought the WLFriend.exe file was infected with a virus. So it thoughtfully
deleted the program from my machine without so much as a by-your-leave!
Subsequent attempts to reinstall the program have been thwarted by AVG which
still insists it contains a virus. I have used this thing for several years
and am convinced it doesn't have a virus and have finally figured out a way to
beat the beast so to speak.
Today I disabled AVG and got WLFriend reinstalled. Then I found where I could
put an exception into AVG so it would leave it alone in the future. It seems
to run ok except for one glitch. Whenever I shut it down and then restart it I
have to right click on the WLFriend window and point it to the path where the
friend.ini file is located. I seem to remember that this only had to be done
once in my first installation. Is there a way to make the path designation
stick?
