You should not have to put in the full call sign, or TAB, or SPACE to the
next field. I often just type in a prefix in the call field and hit my
shortcut key to move the rotor and it works with no problem. Have you
checked Setup/Ports and clicked on the Rotator Control tab after it quits
working? Does it still show the correct port and DCU-1 selection?
If the USB port is apparently still in Device Manager and if the WL port assignment and DCU-1 designation are correct my only guess would be the driver installation. Either the driver has a bug in it or the install didn't go correctly. You might try doing the driver install again and see if Windows can do a better job of identifying the device. 73, Gary AL9A----- Original Message ----- From: "JE Brown" <W4LC@fuse.net> To: "Ron N0AT" <ron@n0at.net> Cc: <writelog@contesting.com> Sent: March 16, 2013 11:24 AM Subject: Re: [WriteLog] Problem with DCU-2 Hi Ron,Not quite sure what you mean by "tab out". One has to go up to the "Radio" menu at the top and select "Antenna to 384 (or whatever heading shows)" to send the command to the DCU-2. Is that "tabbing out"? Or not?----- Original Message ----- From: "Ron N0AT" <ron@n0at.net>To: "'JE Brown'" <W4LC@fuse.net> Sent: Saturday, March 16, 2013 2:42 PM Subject: RE: [WriteLog] Problem with DCU-2When you put in the new callsign, make sure you tab out of the callsign entry box. Am trying to inferface withWritelog. This unit has a built-in chip, and only requires a USB cable to the PC.I downloaded the recommended drivers, and a virtual com port was installed via the "Found New Hardware" wizard. This shows as USB COM PORT 8. I setthis port up as the rotator control port in Writelog. It works. But only once. It slews the rotator to the bearing shown for thecallsign in the entry box, as it should, but will not do it again for any subsquent callsigns. If I go out of Writelog and reboot the PC, then restart Writelog, the correct port (USB COM PORT 8) is still shown as rotator control, and it will slew to the correct bearing. Once. Any suggestions appreciated.
