Hi Fellow Writelog users

I was recently quite shocked to uncover the difficulty associated with
selection of filters in the FT1Kmp MK5 series. I think it is a gross error on
the part of the software/firmware writers at Yaesu.

It's such a gross error, I think it actually merits a revamping of their
firmware. I'd certainly be interested in a firmware fix to deal with this
issue.

However, it reminded me of a project that I was keen to throw out to the
group.

Writelog has the capacity to integrate with a rig "front-panel" and there are
a couple excellent ft1kmp control programs - particularly CAT-1000 by CN8HB.

Is it not possible that with some small adjustments, this programme could be
ported to work within the Writelog environment??

If so, this would literally allow adjustment of nearly everything on the rig
through the software interface without touching the rig - especially the EDSP
and filter adjustments.

Would be interested in whether other writelog and Yaesu FT1kmp users might be
interested in that sort of interfacing/collaboration between the two software
packages??

As an even easier option, it should be possible also to make "MpFilters" work
within writelog as a "rig front panel".

It seems to me the major issue is how to provide two "logical" software serial
ports that route to a single physical serial port, but that make each piece of
software feel it's communicating exclusively with the radio.

>> Disclaimer>>

I am definitely not a programmer but am definitely a satisfied user of these
various pieces of software that wishes there was a way to make writelog work
alongside "MpFilters" or better yet "Cat-1000"
