The answer is:
Align WriteLog Rttyrite with your transceiver's side tone. Since the IC-756pro
is at 600 Hz with the CW pitch knob in the middle I added the following lines to
WriteLog.ini:
[Rttyrite]
CW_RECV_FREQ=600
CW_XMIT_FREQ=600
Problem solved!

- P.S. I'm not sure that CW_RECV_FREQ is even a valid line, the Help file
only talks about CW_XMIT_FREQ, but WriteLog doesn't complain
