I encountered a problem in Saturday's NAQP SSB contest.
Late in the contest, my FT1000MP began not to respond to frequency entries
typed into Writelog's CALL Field to change bands. I had never experienced
this and had made dozens of such changes during the contest. Power-cycling
the MP provided immediate but not permanent relief.
I suspect that "late in the contest" might be the key---that's lowband time,
and one immediately thinks of RF in the shack. However, running only 100W
minimizes this possibility, and I have run QRO on the low bands in contests
here with WL and the MP for years, with no problems. The only other
difference is that, with the amp off, I was using the MP's ATU--which I
never use when QRO.
Any ideas as to what might cause the control interface to freeze with a
band-change from the keyboard---after responding flawlessly for many hours?
