I think they are.
I use a 19" and a 18" lcd, both Philips.
I find them to be quieter although I think the video cards make noise.
Change the frequency of the card if you have a birdy on the dx station.
But a big plus a lot skip over is the lower 'heat production' from LCD's.
They are MUCH cooler. (I mean thermally, not visually.) ;-)
