I think this is a red herring. USB transfer rates are orders of magnitude
greater than RS-232. USB 1.x does 1.5 Mbits/s or 12 Mbits/s. USB 2.0
does 480 Mbits/s. It is more likely that the cause of our troubles is the
Windows driver. Whatever the cause, it has nothing to do with the
performance of USB as a technology.
