Cabrillo provides a standard format for all contests that is easily run
through the log checking programs. Cabrillo was invented because the
older logging program formats such as .log or.all was Ok for saving your
contest logs in readable form but contained breaks, subtotals and headers
that had to be programmed around.
ADIF is just a suggested format so the information can be converted to
the format of the logging program
(usually a general logging program) so all QSOs can be kept in one place.
There are no logging checking programs for ADIF.
Converters such as WT4I take one of the older formats (or some of the
homebrew cabrillo logs) and convert them to "correct" cabrillo. Home
brew cabrillo is one of the biggest problems contest directors face.
