In an attempt to get a VK_CTY.DAT file created
for WriteLog, I've put together the following
for starter coordinates:
VK1 ACT (Canberra) S 35.33096 E 149.12870
VK2 NSW (Sydney) S 33.86737 E 151.20665
VK3 VIC (Melbourne) S 37.81478 E 144.95909
VK4 QLD (Brisbane) S 27.47115 E 153.02589
VK5 SA (Adelaide) S 34.93116 E 138.59074
VK6 WA (Perth) S 31.95459 E 115.86506
VK7 TAS (Hobart) S 42.88432 E 147.30876
VK8 NT (Darwin) S 12.45665 E 130.84511
Of course, VK9 is for Australian External Territories,
and VK0 is for Antarctica.
I've just used coordinates for the cities in each
call area as noted. If someone feels a better
choice would make sense, please drop a reply
to the list!
Lastly, does anyone have a pointer to how the
Australian Communications Authority would
assign other special previxes? This is the
only link I could find:
http://www.aca.gov.au/aca_home/publications/reports/info/regs.htm
(which notes VK, VI and AX)
