As of version 10.40, this is no longer true.
WriteLog's Great Circle Beam Headings and sunrise/sunset
goes through a sequence of "country files".
This is documented in the [GreatCircleLookups] section
of the help file.
What's not mentioned in the help file is that, as of 10.40,
the only country files in the list are RUS_CTY.DAT (which
is Russian prefixes) and the WAE countries in WL_CTY.DAT
(which is always the last country file WL looks at for
GreatCircleBearings).
So if someone created a new "country file" named, say,
USA_CTY.DAT with ten "countries" in it--one for each
call area--and then added USA_CTY.BIN to the [GreatCircleLookups]
section, then the beam headings/sunrise/sunset would be
call area specific for USA calls. (You'd need to put
the USA_CTY.DAT in WL's \programs folder, and run the
Convert CTY to WL and name USA_CTY.DAT in order to
create USA_CTY.BIN).
This chore also needs to be done for VK and VE, but I
haven't gotten around to it.
