Hi Wayne and WL reflector readers!
I think I came across a real software problem in WL.
Everything pertains to RTTY contesting with WL only.
Although I am registered user for more than a year,
the 2003 BARTG Sprint was my first real use of WL.
Subsequently I ran the WPX and BARTG Spring RTTY contests
with WL. I was very pleased by WLs flawless performance in
these contests.
The recent EA RTTY contest however changed the picture.
Citing from my previous mail to the WL reflector, this is
was happened:
"1) In the Rttyrite window ALL (new)callsigns were
highlighted in GREEN. There was NO YELLOW for new
multipliers EXCEPT for US and Canadian calls.
2) When highlighted calls are clicked into the entry
windows call field usually you get an "add-on" text
like New Station and (if applicable) New Multiplier
beneath the callsign. In the EA RTTY ONLY US and
Canadian calls (and a few EA calls) did get the New
Multiplier indication. All others merely were hinted
New Station - even though they were in fact new mults.
3) Scoring of multipliers as shown in the Band Summary
window was correct.
4) Using the INSERT key put the highlighted call into
the call field and sent the correct contest message.
HOWEVER, these calls were NOT labeled New Station and/or
New Multiplier - just nothing! AND the cursor STAYED in
the call field, did not move on to the next field as usual.
(MoveNextOnEnter=1 is set in the WL Ini)
5) As a result of this problem, the ENTER key would NOT
send the QSL/QRZ message as set up and expected. In each
such case I had to move the cursor manually to the next field."
To be a bit more precise about 4) and 5), clicking on the
received contest exchange in the Rttyrite window did move
this exchange to the proper field in the Entry window.
The cursor however REMAINED in the CALL field with the
subsequent "malfunction" of the ENTER key.
Meanwhile I did a lot of testing about this cursor problem.
Hardware used: Pentium 2.3GHz with 512MB Ram
OS: Windows XP Home
TNC: SCS PTC-II on COM2
Software: WL 10.40J, 10.34B and 10.39C,
SM6SRW modules 030222, 020630 also WITHOUT these.
Unfortunately I found ONLY these contests WITHOUT the cursor problem:
- BARTG Sprint RTTY,
- CQ/RJ WPX RTTY,
- BARTG Spring RTTY,
- A.VOLTA RTTY,
- CQWW RTTY,
- WAEDC RTTY.
ALL others did have the cursor problem ( 4 and 5 above) and a lot of them
the incorrect multiplier highlighting too.
Running WL without the SM6SRW modules did NOT change things.
Earlier versions of WriteLog were tested (after deinstalling 10.40J) and
showed the same problem.
Please help.
