Virtually all Kenwood radios use 4800 baud. Simply setting
Kenwood and auto in the relevant boxes is sufficient.

Crucially, what is recorded in the frequency box in the WL entry
screen? If this says "no rig !", then the interface is not
communicating. If however it is simply recording e.g. 3500 or
somesuch, you may need to execute Bands|Set frequency&mode and
then select the appropriate COM port from the drop down menu.
This is the most common cause of failure to read frequency from
the radio, and is a big gotcha that still trips me up.
