The namedmul.ini file is a great tool that allows a user to customize the
multiplier entry to suit each individuals style while having the cabrillo
file contain the data as required by the rules.
Perhaps one of the members of the writelog community could volunteer to
maintain the file in order to keep it up to date for all users. There are
over 52 contests a year so it is not an easy task to keep up with the rule
changes in each contest.
Writelog uses three external files to assist with contest operation:
Country file
Master callsign database
Namedmul.ini
Each of these files change regularly and the Country file and Master
callsign database are maintained by different individuals.....I know there
are several different versions of the Master callsign database maintaned by
different groups. Up to this point no one has published an up to date
version of the namedmul.ini file.
My schedule is a bit hectic (I just got engaged and we are planning a
wedding and finding a place to live) but perhaps one of the many retired
hams could find some time to maintain this file.
I like many others have my own opinion as to what features should be added
to writelog but whichever features are added the WL community would be
better served having somone other than the developer researching and
maintaining the multiplier file so that he can spend his time programming.
This program has a limited number of people to support the development costs
and the last program that I worked with that was only used by a limited
number of people cost $100,000 per license.
Thanks for letting me submit my .02 worth.
