Alt-W is pretty easy to use and works fine for me. But I don't bounce
around between frequencies that much. (In fact, I found it a bit refreshing
to work the entire 10m contest without using packet spots at all!)

95% chance that you're getting RF into the rig control serial line. Reduce
power and/or transmit into a dummy load and see if the problem goes away.
If so, tackle it like any other RFI problem.

It would certainly be nice if WriteLog knew that a portable station logged
KH3/whatever was the same as whatever/KH3. I'd even take it so far as to
ask for WriteLog to use the "root" callsign in supercheck partial -- that
way if I all I get the first time is "KHsomethingMP/KH3" there's a good
chance it'll match KH6GMP and I can go back to the caller with the correct
callsign.

There's no need to log /qrp /p or /m - Those aren't valid prefixes and do
nothing for your score except confuse the log checking computer. I don't
know why stations insist on telling that they're mobile or portable or qrp
- it's irrelevant information.
