I have been considering switching to Writelog and have been
subscribed to the reflector for some now--in order to better
understand the features and any problems with the software.
I have been impressed with the level of support and plan to
purchase the software soon. (With my move to Texas my
antennas are in storage--so there has been no hurry to
actually buy the software yet and start the clock ticking on
that one year of free support.)
I also plan to build another computer that will be dedicated to
logging. Nothing special--but a competent system--something on
the order of a 2100+ Athlon, 512 MB RAM, fast/big disk, etc.
The real issue comes down to operating system. I have virtually
all of the versions of MS Windows running on various systems
around here (I haven't moved down all of my computers yet--but I
count at least 16 already here!)
My preference for the logging system OS at this point is to go with
Win 2000 pro. But I wonder if 2000 pro or Win XP is a better
choice.
If anyone has any strong feeling one way or the other I would
appreciate the input. Or maybe just a vote for one or the other
would make it easier to be sure I was doing the right thing by
going with Win 2000 pro. I want to be able to exercise all of
the features of Writelog--SO2R, voice keyer and contest recording,
networking--at least to a backup computer in the background, etc.
Thanks for any input.
