Those are all safe to let access the net and if you do not you lose too many
functions. DO not be overly afraid or the virus writers win.,
Another thing to think about is a Trojan detector. That is different than a
virus detector and it detects both in memory and files. Take a look at TDS3
for instance. The Trojan is the really high danger item , especially for a
brand band user. It allows the attacker to take full control of your system.
The caution of never opening anything that you did not solicit and did not
know was coming and has not been scanned (most good virus programs scan it
on the way in your email box) is the biggest secret as you already stated.
I agree that those without the software are a danger but there is no way for
us to detect that.
