This past weekend I finished setting up WriteLog and a MK-1100+ on a new
Pentium 4, 2GHz, 1GB RAM computer with a 17" flat screen monitor. It was
wonderful to do a trial run for a couple of hundred QSO's in the WAE contest.
Everything worked and I was able to do everything I think imaginable with a
contest software package. I was in ham heaven.
Tonight I turn the system back on, open a new "General DXCC Logging and
Tracking" log in WriteLog and my communications with my Packet TNC no longer
works (communications is there, but it looks like the wrong baud rate is
being used). A check of writelog.ini doesn't reveal any changes that might
cause the problem. I HAVEN'T TOUCHED THE SETUP SINCE LAST NIGHT! Life is too
short for this!
Unfortunately, I beginning to realize, my two main hobby interests in life -
ham radio and a home audio recording studio - have become totally dependent
on the associated software and computer hardware. If they don't work, I
don't work.
Maybe I should go back to the golf course - no .ini files there.
Thank you for letting take up precious bandwidth to vent. I'll be better
tomorrow.
