On K3KT's DX Toolbar website (http://www.angelfire.com/md/k3ky/) there
is a link to a simple level converter circuit for computer control of
the FT-1000D and a CW keying interface, all using the same COM port
(http://www.albany.net/~bg/Mods/1000D232.htm).
I just put it together, using 2N2222 transistors, and it works fine. The
original circuit is by RK3BT, and it seems to be located on N1EU's
website. This is well worth the little effort to put together, and
gains power via the COM port. Now there is no need for the FIF-232 and
separate port for CW keying from the PC.
