"Should" is a loaded word. Again, WL does reflect the settings at the next
poll---once the radio and WL are synchronized. I think that's the simplest way
to state it. My questions have been about reaching that level of synchronicity.
My contest settings are correct.
Having said that, I think I have found the solution----use the Alt-F1 and Alt-F2
keys for bandchanging, and use the Radio button/Frquency window only to set a
specific frequency. The caveat for the MP appears to be that the frequencies of
the sequential bands need to have been set by twisitng the VFO dial, else some
other frequency on a band may come up in the sequence, instead! So, if I
manually set 3542, QSY the MP to 40 and set the VFO to 7044, then go to 20 and
set the VFO to 14046, I can sequence these all day, and WL will happily follow.
This is what I wanted to do, so the solution is to do it entirely from the
keyboard, rather than from the radio or the screen buttons, except if I wish to
force a specific frequency. That use of Alt-F1/F2 seems much like CT, if I
recall correctly.
As for my most recent question, I have not yet discovered a way to control the B
VFO from the keyboard, nor, more importantly, to have WL respond to the
selection of the B VFO. That would enormously increase the usefulness of the B
VFO.
The bandmap is way cool, but useless for Sprint, as no one stays put for more
than one QSO!
We used IC756 Pro's on Kingman last year. The three of us who operated RTTY were
quite impressed with the TPF on that mode. I had done something similar 8 years
ago, when I developed my mods for the PK232. Instead of using the stock "S"
discriminator characteristic, I doubled the Q of both resonators, creating a
twin-peaked response in that stage. That, and halving the bandwidth of the
front-end filters, and scaling down the bandwidth of the post-detection lowpass
filters, produced a stunningly sharp and more QRM and noise-resistant response.
