Hi John,
I have an "OEM" G400 agp 2x. It cost about $225 a few months
back. The only difference is that it runs at 300mhz, instead
of 330mhz.. Memory, etc. all the same...and there is no
fancy box or thick glossy manual. The "Predator" is a
slightly slower card, don't know about how much memory.
Before I went to the G400 I used two PCI cards, for dual
monitors but found they must be capable of dual monitors and
be from different manufacturers with different drivers or
WIN98SE has problems on shut down. Two PCIs will use more
resources, but if running lots of memory I did not notice
it. The G400 is fast and has few problems noted--mainly far
out stuff taking video to a TV, etc... I have had no
problems. It is nice to share the real estate..though it is
easy to run out of physical desktop for monitors.
A question(s) to you, do you like DXWIN better for general
logging than say Logic? I read that Pkterm (I have it) will
interface and put through the log data to straight to DXWIN.
Is that accurate or what do you use, and is it as
transparent an operation as in WriteLog?
Let me know if you want the distributor's number who has the
OEM Matrox. I will check tomorrow and make sure they still
have them.
