Thought I would put my two cents in to the Icom Split discussion.

The root cause is that Icom designed an interface that is write only.
A real NO-NO in computer architecture.
By that I mean, the computer can set or clear split, but has no way to know
( that is read back) the state of the radio ( split or not).

Writelog does have a work around for that.
In the Writelog.ini file:
[rigs]
IcomForceSplit=1

The behavior is then for the computer to take complete control and at every
poll force the
split to on or off depending on what the computer knows the state to be.

>From an operational point of view, it means always use the computer, NEVER
the front panel.
OK once you get the hang of it.

I have used it on the IC756 and IC756PRO, and it's a reasonable compromise.

Now, the IC756PRO seems to have some hang ups with the setting every poll,
and the
"hold for 2 seconds" functions almost never work with this turned on.
Not sure if there is anything Writelog can do about it, but if it can, I am
sure Wayne will.

So there you have the not so short story.

Try it and see if this works for you.
