If you read the manual section "Network Operations" it actually says:
"If you have NetBEUI, then go on to Step 2. Otherwise you have to install it.
(If you are a Windows networking guru, then you already know that you don't
really need NetBEUI for WriteLog networking--TCP/IP and other protocols will
work, but then you don't need to read these instructions, either.)"
