To set the record straight concerning the 756, I dug out this old post I
made perhaps 18 months ago concerning how I used my 756 (since sold) on PSK
with the narrow CW filters in the SSB mode:
==============================================
FYI: I have the FL-100 and FL-52A 500Hz RTTY/CW filters installed in my
IC-756. To use them on psk31, I went to the setup menu and told the menu
that they were the FL-223 and FL-222 pair (narrow SSB filters). I also set
the CW-N and RTTY-N modes to use these "new" filters. (Thanks, Ron Higgs
and ZL1BPU for the tips on doing all this.)

I can now operate all modes RTTY, CW, and psk31 at 1000 Hz with the 500 Hz
filters working for me. SInce the rig shifts those filters around according
to what it _thinks_ is the appropriate offset, I have to "undo" the shift
by use of the PBT knobs. I have found the appropriate PBT settings to be:

Mode  PBT Knob Position*
RTTY-N  inner        4
RTTY-N  outer        8
CW-N      inner          4
CW-N      outer          8
psk31      inner          8    (USB-N mode)
psk31      outer        11  (USB-N mode)

* (1=full CCW, 11=full CW)

With my casdaded filters, I can narrow any of the passbands by
tweaking the PBT positions in the usual way. For instance, I can use psk31
at 9 and 10, with about 200 - 250 Hz passband. I can actually see it narrow
down on the waterfall display as I tweak it...
