I do not believe that the ARRL will EVER except this operation as there
"ducks" were not in order at the time of the operation. If it does get
approved CQ mag. may accept it but the ARRL does not usually operate that
way. I have received my cards and am keeping them handy...... just in case
I run out of TP! Vy 73's de Phil W2GE

Subject: [WriteLog] 701YGF Operation
I received the following as a result of my asking if anyone has/had heard of
the status of the 701YGF operation. Thought I would post as am sure there
are others as curious as I was..
"DXers all across the globe have been asking about the status of the
recent 7O1YGF operation from Yemen, which ranks # 6 on the 1999 ARRL
Most Wanted List. Franz, DK1II, one of the four German operators
apologizes for the delay and gives the following news."
"QSL-Cards are in print (thanks to the "Funkamateur" Magazine) and
will be replied after arrival. Gus, DJ3XD, our CW QSL Manager is
already pushing us hard! Written confirmation is still under
processing by the relevant bodies in Yemen. Again, we worked on
invitation and with the approval of the relevant authorities in Sanaa
and got therefore the official callsign 7O1YGF. We are grateful for
the support we experienced by the Yemeni authorities. We expect to
give you more comprehensive good news soon. Also we are planning to
prepare a publication on this expedition in a few ham radio magazines.
We hope this answers a few of the many questions raised by the fellow
DXers, but we may ask you for your kind patience now."
"So until then let's all QRX and keep our fingers crossed!"
