Thanks to everyone who replied. For those who care
what was learned about this:
It appears that this won't work with any USB to serial
converters that people reported using. The reason is
apparently that they do not support the 5 bit format
used by rtty.
The only solutions seem to be AFSK or the use of a
TNC. I will use AFSK until I get an appropriate piece
of hardware, then I will use FSK and I will be able to
use the nice twin peak filters in the IC756PRO.
