Ok, 222 MHz is not hot, but the temperature is. This is no time for
strenuous outdoor activity. I am sure your doctor would prescribe a
relaxing evening by the radio over digging a ditch or even cross country
running. The Perseids peak is somewhere about now on Tuesday afternoon,
so there should be a number of meteors flying around this evening. I am
pretty sure that I will try a meteor sked or two.
Activity kicks off at about 2300 UT and I try to show up by then on
222.100 looking for contacts. The Moon comes up here at about 0145 UT
and approx 02:30 in the midwest, so that is getting a bit late for
normal humans. There is very localized tropo in Southern New England,
and I would expect local signals to be good. I am not sure we have any
long DX chances, but you never know. I know that our Toronto buddies
always seem to find something brewing as the Sun goes down this time of
year.
Don't forget to monitor ON4KST (144/432 Region 2) Chat or whatever else
might be in use in your area. A bunch of folks use Slack too. On such a
hot night, I will be chillin' by the 222 rig I hope to find you there too.
