Yes, boys and girls, it is another Tuesday and time for some action on
SSB, CW, FT8 and even Q65B if you are so inclined. I guess there is some
FM activity on 222. I hear that the 222 band is alive and well in the
Providence, RI area with a number of stations on 222 FM.
I'm planning to be QRV starting at about 22:30 UT or so on 222.100 I
just got thru a bad bout of what I believe was COVID 19, just tailor
made for the world courtesy of the Wuhan Lab. Really I wanted to saw off
my head it got so bad. I could not sleep for three or four nights in
row due to incessant coughing. I was swilling NYQUIL like a sailor on
shore leave after six months in the North Atlantic. I finally started
feeling better on Sunday afternoon, but the damage was already done. The
222 MHz Activity Committee had noted my absence and has decreed that my
penance will be delivering a cold frosty bottle of beer to all who
contact K1WHS on Tuesday night, July 1st. To collect your prize, you
must be present at the NEWS Picnic on July 12th in Enfield, CT. The
Committee has stated that you must be there in person and cannot have a
surrogate gulp down the beer in your place. I am not sure how the
Committee is running this, but I suspect that you will need a picture
ID, DNA test, or a valid passport.
A look at the Hepburn Map for Tuesday evening is interesting in that
some minor tropo could develop depending on where the Thunder storms are
not. It looks to get good after about 0500 UT, but the timing could be
off a bit. It all depends where the storms are. I have been monitoring
the VE3WCC beacon on 222.0625 and am hearing it quite often. It is just
the right strength to pop up when things get "gooder". Some days it is
S2 or S3 at mid day.
So make some noise and watch the ON4KST Chat page. EME looks good for
those who can elevate. Moonset for me is at about 03:40 UT. I will check
the EME Chat page (HB9Q) during the evening. This all assumes that we
are not all driven off by bad lightning discharges. Fingers are crossed.

ps. The 222 Activity Committee has informed me that I cannot serve Bud
Light or Papst Blue Ribbon to fulfill my obligation.
